Since 1992 there has been an Acquisitive Award generously made by the Warrumbungle Shire Council (previously Coonabarabran).
“This is awarded to any item from Section A of the schedule depicting local content of the Warrumbungle Shire Region.”
The Warrumbungle Shire Council, continuing with this acquisitive tradition, has graciously supported this important art prize.
Additionally, they have increased the prize money to $1,000, a much appreciated gesture.
This then is a highly contested art prize and is a truly charming eclectic collection that has developed into an historically interesting showcase
of local subject matter.
These paintings are housed on the walls of the Warrumbungle Shire Council Chambers in John Street, Coonabarabran.
